Graphite's 10 Characters That Deserve Better

Description

At first, I wanted to do "Top 10 Most Hated Characters". But I changed focus because, to be honest, it's really hard for me to find anybody unlikable. So I switched gears.

10) Fatty Bear: It's not exactly Fatty's fault his game wasn't critically approved-he was only Humongous Entertainment's second game! They were just getting started! You'd think with companies like Humongous, especially with how frequently they threw their cast into new adventures, Fatty Bear would have gotten a second chance. Sadly he didn't and was quickly forgotten about.

9) The Singin' Strays: Like Fatty Bear, these five probably would have gained better writing with a little more care. Don't think I'm defending them because "they sing good"-no, I'm defending them because they could be so much more than what they ultimately became if somebody cared about them more.

8) Patricia Wagon: I've never actually played Mighty Switch Force or its sequel, but they both look really cool and fun. But their protagonist probably wouldn't be up there with the big game mascots anytime soon. Patricia doesn't really have a ton going for her-heck, the only reason she lives in infamy is because she kicks babies. (Why can't she just pick them up again?) But looking beyond that, she's got a little web of traits. She's determined, she's courageous, she's strict, she can use the Force, she kicks infants without any shame, what's not to love? Speaking of love...

7) Bubsy: At least the above three get SOME love-poor Bubsy is just kicked down by the world around him. It's not like he kicks babies, or scratches, or argues a lot, or forces you through uninteresting goals, or blows you away with stomach rainbows.  All he wanted was to be something, to be up there with Sonic, Zelda, and Mario. There's lots of comparison between Dusk's Dawn, who will appear later, and Bubsy when it comes to terms of needing more love.

6) Kaito: Don't think I'm saying Kaito's severely underrated. He's got a good little fanbase going for himself. But good God...in "Kagamine Rin Ievan Polkka" we end on a note that HE WAS MERCILESSLY HUNG BY MEIKO WITH HIS OWN SCARF, once I saw a song with the three lead vocaloid females RAPING/KILLING him, when I went to get an image for him I found a picture of Kaito fallen flat on his face with his spilled ice cream...he's just that guy who gets beat up a lot you end up feeling kind of bad for.

5) Kat: Kat gets a lot of flak for being one dimensional and a rip off of Invader Zim. Personally, I don't see it. (Mainly because I've never seen Invader Zim) Kat's pretty cool. He's got a holographic collar, has buzz saws for claws, can melt things, who knows what else? Seems all he really wants is to head back to his own planet and interact with his own kind, even more than fight Coop and take over the world. Like the Strays, Kat could become a better character had he been a little more concentrated on.

4) The cast of G3 MLP: Just...the cast of G3 MLP. I've never seen anything earn more hatred from a fandom than this generation. Let's remember here, these were from the 2003-2006 period, when cartoons were not doing strongly, to say the least. Why must these guys receive all the fire? Because they have strange eyes? Because they're always laughing and playing around? It's quite standard for any happy land cartoon. It's like the only reason they're hated is because they're the predecessors of the FiM characters, which I will admit are more advanced. Speaking of FiM...

3) Diamond Tiara: I've seen a lot of bratty characters. Muffy, D.W., Princess Morbucks, the Bratz, etc. At the same time, I have never seen one earn so much hatred other than Diamond Tiara. What the heck, you guys? From what I've seen from her, she's just a typical bully. (Her insults aren't even very good, for that matter) Now this may come from the fact that I live with an older brother *G-Major voice* WHO IS NOTHING MORE THAN A COMPLETE FUCKING ASSHOLE TO ME, but I don't see her as a pure evil character. Atleast, not the Judge Frollo level everyone depicts her as. All she really does is tease and break things, nothing new there. Now I have not seen "Crusaders of the Lost Mark" but I have heard she was redeemed pretty well. Could this reduce the hate? Heaven only knows.

2) Chicken Little: This goes on both an in-show and writing levels. In show, Chicken Little is continuously beat up, tortured, teased, God knows what else...and why? Because of a slight misunderstanding. The writers didn't give him any sort of trait to help us side with him-not that he's gonna need one because he and his friends are the most likable characters in his hometown.

And now, some honorable mentions.
==========================================================================================================
HONORABLE MENTIONS:

Lotsaheart Elephant: Easily one of the most underrated CBs, overshadowed by Grumpyheart, Braveheart, or Swiftheart. Let's face it, elephant characters don't come as often as they used to, and Lotsaheart's got, well, lots of heart.

Tiger Tabby: We all know modern LPS strives to be bouncy, happy, and playful. Well, if you ask Tiger-heck, if you ask ANY pet-the LPS's rival, Largest Ever Pet Shop, is a boot camp to say the least. The scenes with him play out quite similar to Pleasure Island from Pinocchio-he is unable to escape from his prison with the main characters, and last we see him he is moping about how he longs for freedom. He was only seen once more, during the Pet Jet sequences in Blythe's Big Idea. But those sequences were imagined by the pets themselves and didn't really happen. If you think about it, it means the pets still think about Tiger Tabby being left behind and locked away for what could very well be the rest of his life, and like to imagine that one day, he will eventually be free and having adventures with them, which is really sad.

The entire cast of Dusk's Dawn: Like Bubsy, the Dusk's six are completely innocent and don't mean harm. Yet everybody just tosses them under the bus. I don't think I'll need to state why that is, but I think they're just small flaws that can easily be fixed up.

Spitfire: Okay, so something like, two bad moments and Spitfire is one of the worst MLP characters? I know she doesn't show as much compassion to Soarin as Rainbow Dash does but...geez. She means well, to perform and protect her land from evil. It's not precisely her fault for her actions in Rainbow Falls, whoever wrote for her then just...couldn't write for her very well. I don't think she's bad, I think she's just...in need of some serious redeeming.

Handy: Poor little fellow! It's bad enough he has a lack of limbs, but he's been crushed, sliced up, impaled, split in half...he's just plain Death's favorite. By far when I felt the worst for him was in A Change of Heart, all beat and against a whale with no hope of survival. Same with what happened to him in Don't Yank My Chain.

Nutty: Like Handy, the little squirrel just wants sugar and sweets. And how does that go? Drowned, cut in half, deflated, left at the hands...er...coils of a vending machine...there are times when the pain towards him is justified, like when he tried to steal Cub's lollipop. But mostly, he just wants what he loves-a good sweetening.

Disco Bear: Poor little guy! Disco Bear is JUST tailing the list here. All he wants is some company, only to be trampled, disintegrated, burned, pulled by the intestines, shot through the head...etc.

Sushi Pack: They only aired until 2009, then nobody heard from them again.

Flash Sentry: He's trying, you guys. He's that package that gets thrown out by everyone instead of opened for what's inside him.

And the number one character that deserves better is...
=========================================================================================================

1) SHEZOW

Where do I begin with SheZow?? Seriously, where?

Okay, so after he was critically panned, SheZow slipped into complete nonexistence. That is, until somebody at Hub decided to bring him back with a new look, new animation, new characters, new EVERYTHING. His new series was just going strong, more and more people attracted to him! But just as he was at the top of his game...Discovery suddenly decided it wanted its block back, broke up the Hub, and SheZow faded away again.

    What the heck, Discovery?! I know it was a year ago, but this business decision annoys me to this day. Heck, I remember being a total fangirl for Discovery Kids when I was little and I thought it becoming the Hub was just a name change. When the new shows arrived, I didn't even feel sad about my favorite ones gone! They were amazing! Transformers Prime, the WotWots, Strawberry Shortcake, Pound Puppies, Dan Vs. even In the Night Garden! It seemed a whole new future had made its way into our hearts in those first five minutes! It was going strong! And then you, Discovery, decide it was doing TOO much more well than Discovery Kids? Crap like this event is why I hate block merges, they kill off potential filled, wholesome, sweet shows like they were rats! And for what Discovery, so we can watch you feed us the same thing you, National Geographic, Animal Planet, and TVO already do?

    Also, Discovery, I just plain love how you only kept LPS, MLP, Transformers, and Pound Puppies. So after you took back a beloved block for no reason, just to pluck off the reasons it was so loved like a forget-me-not, you reduced a great, likable family of cartoons to just the four largest franchises. Those four and those four alone. Makes me wonder if the Hub was just an experiment to filter out the lesser shows so YOU could bring down the hammer on their successes and kill them off in favor of the big cash cows! THAT IS NOT, or should I say, THAT SHOULD NOT BE, what a network is! I mean both Discovery and you guys, have you ever seen TVOKids? It's very small and a rare fish to catch, but it's worthwhile. They have a big gallery of obscure children's programming I've never heard of before, like Ruff Ruff, Tweety and Dave, Rob the Robot, Zou, NumTums, who knows what else! None of these would do very well on say, PBSKids or Disney Junior. But here's the thing, the big thing-TVO still keeps them! Because they know there are children out there that love them, enjoy them, always play with them! Heck, it even carries PAW PATROL! How did they get the rights to do THAT? It's so unique Nickelodeon would allow TVO to use their own show!

    So, what I want to ask is, why aren't more networks like TVOKids in terms of how they treat their programs? Are there any in the first place? Will there ever be justice for whatever happened to poor SheZow? Most likely not. Tragically, SheZow shares a tale with thousands of other shows and pilots. GameFarm, Modifiers, that Hey Arnold spinoff, Scaredy Camp, that GPK cartoon, HorseLand, Holly Hobbie...it only helps me to realize I must continue my job. Bring them back, rewrite them into what they could've been if somebody, anybody cared at all. Some people wonder why fanbases exist. Maybe it's to continue the lives that did not deserve to end.

"Unless someone like you cares a whole lot a lot, nothing is going to change around here-it's not."
